Start with the diagnosis
Ask the dentist to name the condition, show the evidence, explain its severity, and separate what is known from what is uncertain.
Compare reasonable approaches
Options may differ in preservation of tooth structure, appearance, durability, repairability, visits, recovery, maintenance, and cost. Ask whether monitoring, phasing, specialist referral, or no treatment is reasonable.
Comfort and recovery
Discuss anesthesia or sedation, preparation, transportation, expected sensations, activity limits, aftercare, and who to contact if symptoms worsen.
Longevity and second opinions
No restoration lasts forever. Ask what commonly causes failure and whether repair is possible. Extensive, expensive, elective, or irreversible care can reasonably be reviewed through a second opinion.
